Weight-loss journey: weeks 2 & 3

First off, I'd like to say thank you for your support and interest in this mini series and in my blog in general. It means so much to me! I'm planning a Twitter give-away when we reach 500 followers to say thank you to you all :)

Getting back to this post, I joined two weeks together as I was insanely busy the day Week 2 was meant to go up. I'm trying to get some more time to sit and write, and fortunately it should only be 2 or 3 more weeks of absolute mayhem and after than life should go back to relative normality.

Week 2

This week has been a bit of a difficult one for weight loss. I went to a wedding on Thursday, and was out doing bits and bobs most of the weekend.

I still tried to stay on track as much as possible by drinking lots of water and eating more varied meals.

I'm very pleased to say I've already noticed a difference. I feel better, my skin isn't as dry as it was before, and I bought a size 16 thinking it would do for when I lot a little bit of weight but turns out they fit me perfectly. maybe I've tumble-dried my leggings too many times and shrunk them?

I've even seen a difference in measurements!

  • Right arm: 13.00 (was 13.5)
  • Chest: 46.5
  • Waist: 36.75
  • Hips: 47.5
  • Right thigh: 29 (was 29.5)
It's not a HUGE difference, but enough to keep me motivated and to show I'm on the right track.

I completely forgot to log my meals what with helping out with the wedding and such. I've started to log what I eat now though, and I will be able to see where I'm eating too much or too little of things.

Week 3

As I took my measurements on Thursday last week (I know, I was REALLY late!), I've done them this week but not expected much of a difference.

  • Right Arm: 12.5 inches (was 13.00)
  • Chest: 47.1 inches (was 46.5. WHAT!?)
  • Waist: 35.9 inches (was 36.75)
  • Hips: 47.5
  • Right thigh: 28.75 inches (was 29.00)
Wow! I wasn't expecting to see a difference at all to be honest. But I don't think this is the result of healthy weight loss or doing more exercise. I've not been very well, and because of that I've not been eating properly. Sometimes I've felt too nauseous to eat and keep it down. I've been to the doctors though and it's being looked into as it may be linked to something else.

As I've not been eating well, I didn't log my meals. I don't think it's worth showing you what I've been eating as it's been so little, and I don't want people to think that eating little or not at all is the way to lose weight.

I'm hoping that my appetite will go back to normal this week, so I will be logging my meals and keeping on top of it.

Exercise wise, I've not done much in the sense of running or weight lifting (I probably shouldn't be allowed near any weights). I've been spending more time doing outside jobs, and running up and down the stairs while doing housework is pretty much my "work-out routine" and the moment. Once the weather cools down a little, I'm thinking of taking up running again.

I used to run while I was living in Spain (even did a 10km event with my cousin!) but the heat was ridiculous at 40 Degrees Celsius . Never again will I run in that heat!

Thank you for following my fitness journey, if you have any tips for me please share! The internet is full of advice but I like hearing it from someone who has actually tried it out :)
